THE FASHION GUY WITH THE VINTAGE EYE presents Lady Porshia Claiborn Jackson (The Pentecostal Princess)

THE FASHION GUY WITH THE VINTAGE EYE
The Pentecostal Princess
Lady Porshia Claiborn Jackson

I am sure many of us were shocked when a pictured surfaced of Lady Porshia Claiborn Jackson getting married to Elder J.L. Jackson of Roanoke,Virginia a few weeks ago, but we were also overcome with a warm heart to know that someone found love. Lady Porshia is well known for her amazing Shellie McDowell hats, St.John Knits, 64 inch layered Chanel necklaces, Swarkvoski Crystal Christian Louboutins, Crystal Bags, Givenchy stockings, the finest material lap scarves, and a sweet spirit with a warm smile. I have always been intrigued with this 28 year old fashion icon in her own right, Lady Porshia when it comes to fashion in church. The years she was apart of The Grand Olé COGIC she has simply changed the mind sets of the youth and young adults look on fashion; along with the help of a few other Fashionable Saints in the Church Of God In Christ. When her wedding pictures surfaced on my timeline I immediately contacted her to get all the details of her absolutely beautiful wedding; SO HERE WE GO!!! Lady Porshia's amazing wedding dress was made my Israeli bridal designer Berta. Berta is known for her avant-garde designs, luxurious fabrics, and handmade beading and lace. Which obviously would be a perfect match for Lady Porshia, being she embodies off of these when it comes to her wardrobe. Lady Porshia said she tried on two dresses in a local bridal boutique in Minneapolis but once she saw this dress online, she knew this was the ONE! Looking through her wedding pictures that were given to the public, her dress reminded me of Princess Grace Kelly of Monaco and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge wedding dresses. The lace and chiffon throughout the dress brought a very simple but classic look to her dress, which is what Lady Porshia wanted. Their reception was held in the banquet hall of her father in law's (Bishop Delmar L Jackson) church, where it was a private and intimate classic evening of elegance. We must not forget her daughter Lexi who is always as fashionable as her mother and father Sir Verlon Lofton. Lexi's dress was actually from Macys but of course her mother being the fashionable person she is embellished the dress with a simple petticoat that gave the dress a full look, a crystal flower waistband, huge white ruffle socks with silver piping from The Puddle Collection (a well known source of shopping for fashionable children). She also had a crystal headband from the upscale speciality department store Von Maur along with a pair of vintage earrings given to Lexi from her grandmother. Accompanying Lady Porshia Bertabridal backless lace and chiffon dress, she a Swarkvoski crystal waistband, a Swarovski crystal headband from Von Maur, vintage Swarkvoski crystal earrings, silver shimmer Givenchy stocking (of course), and a gorgeous pair of Badgley Mischka peep toe shoes. During out interview I brought up hats to Lady Porshia and all the wonderful regelia pertaining to fashionable women in Christendom, she stated "Fashion was something I definitely had to grow into". Lady Porshia also stated "I hated hats, I never wore makeup, but I was taught and I am still learning". Lady Porshia tells me that she now loves fashion and all things girly and sparkly. At the end of our interview I asked Lady Porshia Claiborn Jackson; What are your thoughts on your love the second time around? She so graciously said "Married life is wonderful when it's to the GOD ORDAINED person". She says "My husband and I developed a prayer life together, whereas we had one separately but together in oneness. Lady Porshia mentioned to me this was indeed a God move; to her she says it feels wonderful to be loved correctly. Lady Porshia says she has never smiled so much a day in her life; she closed our interview with this statement "God knew just what I needed when I needed it most".

"New beginnings are sometimes disguised as painful endings"
