Vintage Wedding Dress or SUNDAY Morning Glory???

I am all about an amazing vintage gown (as long as it's a proper one) for a good
Sunday Morning or Evening service. Especially if it's an Elect Lady or First Lady who is being appreciated, anniversary, or a Birthday of her or said spouse.

Here is an incredible Vintage 1950s/60s wedding dress that is ankle length. Not to long, no train, but a simple vintage dress. It has an amazing organza dotted neck with and incredible lace collar. Just the right amount of Swiss organza, tulle, lace, and absolutely no beading and stoning. It's appropriate and absolutely incredible piece of history.

I also want to introduce you all to an amazing shoe house (company/designer). You've seen their shoes on the feet of some of the best dressed  and seasoned women in Christendom. Such as Lady Mae Blake (she usually mostly wear a Jimmy Choo), and also the Legendary First Lady Louise Patterson. Who is this incredible designer???? None other than René Caovilla!!!!! I also chose this shoe because of the incredible pattern that resemble the pattern on the collar of the dress. IT MUST BE GOD!!!

Edoardo Caovilla who built a life in craftsmanship and couture, with the vision and audacity to amaze the world nurtured his son René Fernando and in the 50s Rene developed his own inspiration by moving towards art and experimenting with a transversal approach. Since then, there were partnerships for several years with another legendary fashion house, Christian Dior, John Galliano, with whom Caovilla designed dreamlike and imaginative creations for the Paris catwalks. So being that everyone else are chasing Louboutin and Zanotti, leave them alone and definitely check out René Caovilla, I promise you it will be a blessing to you and the body of Christ!!!

This amazing and simple wide brim was created by none other than designer Ebony Labedo! She has made pieces for Dorinda Clark Cole and Karen Clark Sheard along with many other leading ladies of the church. You can check her out on FaceBook (LaDebo Hats) or on her website at http://m.ladebohats.com!!! I love love love her pieces.

Not shown in the picture but these two amazing handbags would go great with this look. I am all about and amazing bag with a great lap scarf, and of course these are by Mary Frances! I think they are one of the greatest designers for women's handbags, one of a kind and great detailed craftsmanship.

Preparing for COGIC Aim 2015!!!!

I am super excited about Aim coming up in just a few weeks, I've started packing already. Well not really packing but pulling looks together. I was in search over a few Blazers and I stumbled upon this incredible vintage green plaid blazer. This green makes such a bold statement I couldn't leave it so I purchased it. Now being that I am a size 44L and the blazer is a 42R, I pulled it for a client going to the same convention.

I paired it with these incredible black flat front, European cut (slim fit) pants from H&M for 34.98 on clearance. Creates a great shillouette as long as you get your size. I recommend getting them a size bigger and have them tailored to your body.

I also put it with these incredible patent leather Calvin Klein Guilford Loafers. I have been in love with patent leather for the past two years (not the other type of leather, we are saved over here). I prefer a good Mezlan shoe, my favorite foot wear designer but these Calvin Klien are great for a summer convention and day/evening wear. It won't cause you to break the bank either to purchase a pair.

Of course a few accessories to add to this look. An amazing crisp, white, Monogramed wide spread collar by Paul Fredrick. My dad introducede to these great menswear designers. I now buy all my white shirts from them. A great silver tie bar I would choose instead of a gold bar. This one you can get from Target for $10.00.

A great solid black tie will do, nothing to fancy because the jacket is doing all of the talking and it's talking real good. A friend of mine in NY by the name of Daniel (@soedesigns on Instagram) makes incredible ties at incredible prices. Definitely check him out. Your tie should be that of good quality material with some weight to it. Happy Socks are the only providers for sock ministry to me. All this extra other stuff the saints are doing, they just need to keep it in their shoes. I personally would do a simple sheer silk men's dress sock to keep the clean lines. Of course I can't forget a great lapel flower by Carraway Concepts. The black really pulls the blazer in with the rest of the look.

Last but not least, the one piece that will bring everything together. This incredible hat by Mr Sax himself. I love the height of the crown, the brim is not to wide, and the colors are very bold but masculine. These days we have to many men wearing Sheillies, but that's a different blog for a different day. Definitely check out Mr. Sax at saxultd.com to view his entire collection.

AIM here I come!!!!!!

Modernizing your Vintage St John!

Ok so I've been trying to work on a website so I've been blogging and selling anging vintage pieces on my IG Blog (@thee_vintage_guy check me out) but I have so much more to offer than what IG can give me room for. So therefore I'm back!!!

Ok how to modernize your vintage St John or as I would simply call it a "John". I think it's a New York thing, being that I'm from Brooklyn. Now every old John isn't a vintage John and every vintage John isn't a good John, so just doing pick up anything. It was to give a shillouette the is flattering and modern, a great pattern (nothing to retro), great structure, and an all around sounding piece.

I found this amazing piece at a consignment store I shop in here in Atlanta. They carry mostly high end designers, such as CHANEL ☺️, Gucci ☺️, Escada ☺️, and of course St John 😱!!!! Every churchy girls favorite name!!

This is the time your don't have to do a  green shoe and a green purse and green this and green that. They offer right on the dress an amazing crayon box where you can choose from to accessorize this incredible vintage piece.

These amazing bi-color ankle strap gem encrusted pumps are everything to my life!! They absolutely add so much color and flare to this dress. They are by Dsquared and you can find them at Saks or on Dsquared website, where they have an incredible fall/winter and spring/summer line out of shoes that are to BUY FOR. (no die for shoes over here in holiness lol).

And here is just a bag that speaks to all generations! My grandmother would love this, my mother would adore this, and my sister would be glad to have this incredible piece of luxury. Clearly this bag bring the whole outfit together. I would just carry it and have nothing it because it's just MIGHTY all by itself!

(If you are interested in purchasing this vintage St John please email me at thevintageguy87@gmail.com)

Here are just a few pieces I thought you could also pull this dress off for a less dressy look. An amazing metallic gold Guisseppi heel, metallic gold textured clutch or an incredible purple Jimmy Choo with a simple suede clutch with chain.

JIBRI Pop Up Shop..... Atlanta!!!!!

Listen, Listen, Listen...... I should check my email more often because I can't believe there is something amazing going on in Fashiondom right here in Atlanta! When it comes to styling our pleasantly beautiful women with curves and more to love, JIBRI a is definitely the first stop I make. They give modern, chic, class, and drama all at the same time. At one time you could only shop with them online, BUT THE LORD LIVETH AND BLESSED BE THE ROCK, they have opened a pop up shop!!!!! What is a pop up shop? A pop up shop are temporary stores at a designated venue. The purpose of this is to attract the consumer long enough with something exclusive, surprising and exciting, while the brand gets exposure to create an impact and communicate something specific to a large audience.  I'm not sure how long they have been open but they 3 days left with their pop up shop and all women with extra to love, you need to run and get to this amazing event. I am praying I can meet with this amazingly talented designer this weekend to hopefully get 10 minutes of her time to see what is in her creative mind. Please do yourself a favor and get to this pop up shop and SHOP SHOP SHOP!!!!

Thumbs Up Thumbs Down (skirts)

I've seen so many women wearing the dag on wrong skirts and its vexing my spirit😡. You can't be on someone's platform singing how great is our God and we can see way up your skirt. The thing about singing in certain churches now is that platforms are high off the ground and you have to sing to the people below.

For example, if you were singing at Greater Travelers Rest, which is a prominent church here in the Atlanta  area; their platform/pulpit is higher up than normal pulpits in churches. It's nothing wrong with that, I love me a good long wide high platform, but you can't be dressed any kind of way up there. Saints are Saints but men are men and they will be looking way up there and that will be a distraction. By the way slip or no slip (and these skirts I'm about to introduce to you need no slip, just the right undergarments).
Thumbs up, thumbs down..... Which one do you feel is appropriate no matter where you are at or going? RIGHT, the one I posted with a this up. Someone women wish to look "sexy" "attractive" and etc even in church and to me there is nothing wrong with that. Single women and single men go to church, so try and look your best, especially when you want a evenly yoked partner in life (just don't let it be your main focus and or reason). The pencil fitted knee length skirt exudes class, sex appeal, style, grace, power, and WOMAN. That other skirt exudes cheap, nasty, and go have several seats 💺💺💺💺... Let's continue or start exuding all the characteristics of our thumbs up today, because I want to continue to keep my blog positive and not talk about anyone, but I feel it rising up in me lol....
Check out one of my favorite gospel singers, preachers, and First Lady, Lady Bettina Pennon-Dowtin. She is a singer so she would want to portray that she has style, she is fashion forward, and along with her gift her attire is what also captures attention. She is also a preacher so she has to be modest in her appearance; she can't feature all of her curves while preaching, that will cause a distraction and attention will be on her and not on the word of God. She is also a First Lady; women and young girls look up to her in church and in her community. They want to be like her, walk, talk, sing, and DRESS JUST LIKE HER! Of course she has thee anointing and trust me that's enough right there to be an example, but these days people need something they can see and something that is tangible. My Pastor always says "back in the day (old church) when the Pastor said something the saints believed it and did it". These days you have to show them and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that.
Last year I styled my mother for Mothers Day and I had to make sure (being that she goes to a non denominational church, so there wear their arms out 👀 LOL) that whatever I put her in complimented her mind, body, and spirit. I did something modern with a fitted knee length pencil skirt (really was a short dress, I couldn't find right skirt I wanted for her). A good peplum top that was an investment piece ($65.00). A cute simple black and gold studded belt, and an oversized flower (that was the churchy in me trying to come out) LOL.
I am telling you these knee length skirts really do make the difference in how you look and how others look at you. Whether you are going to church, work, club, or a restaurant, they are appropriate for all settings. I always say if you can't wear it to work then don't wear it church, but that's a sermon for another time.

Here are a few options and guides you can go by to help you make your selection. Trust me you don't have to be a size 2 or 4 to look great in these skirts; JUST GET YOUR SIZE!!!! (that's another sermon there too LOL)...
