For example, if you were singing at Greater Travelers Rest, which is a prominent church here in the Atlanta area; their platform/pulpit is higher up than normal pulpits in churches. It's nothing wrong with that, I love me a good long wide high platform, but you can't be dressed any kind of way up there. Saints are Saints but men are men and they will be looking way up there and that will be a distraction. By the way slip or no slip (and these skirts I'm about to introduce to you need no slip, just the right undergarments).
Thumbs up, thumbs down..... Which one do you feel is appropriate no matter where you are at or going? RIGHT, the one I posted with a this up. Someone women wish to look "sexy" "attractive" and etc even in church and to me there is nothing wrong with that. Single women and single men go to church, so try and look your best, especially when you want a evenly yoked partner in life (just don't let it be your main focus and or reason). The pencil fitted knee length skirt exudes class, sex appeal, style, grace, power, and WOMAN. That other skirt exudes cheap, nasty, and go have several seats 💺💺💺💺... Let's continue or start exuding all the characteristics of our thumbs up today, because I want to continue to keep my blog positive and not talk about anyone, but I feel it rising up in me lol....
Check out one of my favorite gospel singers, preachers, and First Lady, Lady Bettina Pennon-Dowtin. She is a singer so she would want to portray that she has style, she is fashion forward, and along with her gift her attire is what also captures attention. She is also a preacher so she has to be modest in her appearance; she can't feature all of her curves while preaching, that will cause a distraction and attention will be on her and not on the word of God. She is also a First Lady; women and young girls look up to her in church and in her community. They want to be like her, walk, talk, sing, and DRESS JUST LIKE HER! Of course she has thee anointing and trust me that's enough right there to be an example, but these days people need something they can see and something that is tangible. My Pastor always says "back in the day (old church) when the Pastor said something the saints believed it and did it". These days you have to show them and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that.
Last year I styled my mother for Mothers Day and I had to make sure (being that she goes to a non denominational church, so there wear their arms out 👀 LOL) that whatever I put her in complimented her mind, body, and spirit. I did something modern with a fitted knee length pencil skirt (really was a short dress, I couldn't find right skirt I wanted for her). A good peplum top that was an investment piece ($65.00). A cute simple black and gold studded belt, and an oversized flower (that was the churchy in me trying to come out) LOL.
I am telling you these knee length skirts really do make the difference in how you look and how others look at you. Whether you are going to church, work, club, or a restaurant, they are appropriate for all settings. I always say if you can't wear it to work then don't wear it church, but that's a sermon for another time.
Here are a few options and guides you can go by to help you make your selection. Trust me you don't have to be a size 2 or 4 to look great in these skirts; JUST GET YOUR SIZE!!!! (that's another sermon there too LOL)...
