Modernizing Your Vintage Look!

It is not enough to just go onto a website and purchase something dating back to the 50s but the aesthetic of the garment. Does it work with your body type, complexion, and your personality. Many of us buy garments because it looks amazing on a mannequin or somebody else. We then wear it and unfortunately look terrible in it. It will end up wearing us or because we don't know our body shape, it looks ill fitting on us. So I just want to offer helpful tips and items that will perfectly execute your vintage look!!!

Here is this beautiful 1960s sequins vintage jacket that looks great on any body type. From a 2 to a 22, you can absolutely pull this look off. It creates a great silhouette for you and it hides what you dont want to be seen!!!! Praise God for Jesus!!!! πŸ˜†!!! Some come with elastic (stretch material) in them that will also give a fitted look and others and lined and already structured for that size. This beautiful well kept jacket is a size 12 with some wiggle room in it. Interested in purchasing please email me at thevintageguy87@gmail.com.

I paired an incredible Alexander Wang Jersey T Shirt Dress which is priced at $103.00. I chose this dress because of the jersey knit material that flatters all body types. It lays just right on all the right places of the body. Also the cut at the neck and the finishing at the hem just adds character to the entire look. This to me is perfect piece to add to this jacket when modernizing it. Also this can be a staple and investment piece in your wardrobe. You can always add different accessories to it such as layering mutiple crystal long necklaces, leather or suede leggings, thigh high boots, a motto or tuxedo jacket, or amazing stoned out single sole heels, huge crystal necklace and earings, a fox stole, crystal handbag, and say HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Also I have fallen in love with the brand Casadei which offers some of the most amazing shoes! This incredible pumps to me solidify this entire outfit. I'm a believer to what is done on top should be done on the bottom! Check these incredible shoes out at www.casadei.com. Yes they are an expensive brand that we all can't afford but we can always google to find our price range.

The last two items are these incredible Custom Black Beaded Tassel Necklaces which are all the rage for 2016 and this novelty Mary Frances Handbag! You can either buy this necklace from specialty shoppes ranging from 30.00 to 150.00 or buy them off the street for 5.00 to 10.00! The cheaper ones won't carry the same weight but they will complete the job. This mary frances handbag spoke to me because of the green in tassel absolutely takes this look to the next level!!! Always look for a handbag that compliments your outfit but is totally different from your entire look! That adds style to your look and moves you from trends.

THIS COAT!!!!!

This YELL that I let out last night around 10:30pm while watching the second episode of season three for HOW TO GET AWAY WITH MURDER I'm sure woke my neighbors up! It wasn't because of a shocking murder scene or a hot passionate love making scene, or even one of the characters getting another together with sharp cutting words but it was all because of this amazing Brown and Purple amazing chic coat Viola Davis who plays Annalise Keating!

I know I am not the only one who absolutely went crazy over this incredibly crafted piece of luxury. I automatically went to social media and goggle doing research on this coat. I went to Viola Davis Instagram, them went to HTGAWM IG, went to their costume designers social media page, checked other Designers such as Prada, Oscar De La Renta, and Chanel social media pages and website. I finally found one that is very promising after sending emails and direct messages to the costume desiger for the show. Who do I believe is the designer of this incredible coat? DRUM ROLL PLEASE!!!!!!!! FENDI!!!!!!!!!!

Fendi is an Italian luxury fashion house who specialize in fur, ready to wear, leather goods (especially handbags), shoes, and in this case, COATS. It was founded in 1925 by Adele Casagrande and Edoardo Fendi in Rome,Italy. This husband and wife team started out in a small store in Rome with their special leather goods and furs. What helped them to be noticed was their attention to detail. They were known for their yellow tinted, parchment leather bags. In 1965 legendary designer Karl Lagerfeld became a part of the Fendi family along with their daughter who helped reinvent the brand. If you notice many of their handbags and clothing can be a solid color and when you look on the inside or in the back there is an array of bright bold colors taking your breath away!

(FENDI FOUNDERS)

(FENDI DAUGHTERS)

(THE FENDI FAMILY)

When this amazing coat hit my television screen so many things ran through my head. The biggest idea was, where can I get this made at? I can just imagine my Pastor walking in during our Holy Convocation with elbow length leather gloves and amazing sheath dress underneath and a chic Michelle Obama shoe! (I'm speaking into existence for Michelle Obama to do a Shoe Line exclusive at Nordstrom). OH and a oversized clutch, giving it a 1960s Vintage flare.

(Similar style FENDI coats)

I do believe that this FENDI coat was custom made in this color for the show because I couldn't not find this particular coat anywhere in these two colors. I did find one which is in two other vibrant colors that speaks volumes all by itself. I have posted a few other FENDI pieces that spoke to me. Just from browsing their Fall/Winter 2016 collection I put an entire wardrobe together for some of the special women in my life. I even found an amazing Vintage piece that gives a Fendi feel and look.

So you don't have to search any further, THEE VINTAGE GUY has done his research and found what everyone has been searching for. It is a FENDI Color Block Coat that ranges in the price of $3,000 and $3,850. Looking for something similar just contact me via email at thevintageguy87@gmail.com or message me in Instagram @thee_vintage_guy.

Editors Notes:
This amazing piece also could have been created but the luxury brand Akris. Most roads have led me to Fendi which is why I spoke highly and more of that fashion house.

State Of The Union and THIS DRESS!!!!!

Well President Barack H Obama final State Of Union Address was very moving, reassuring, fact finalizing, and his greatest one. BUT there was a majestic elephant in the room and it was none other than our First Lady, Michelle LaVaughn Robinson Obama!!!! I was certinaly interested in everything my President was saying but I was praying the camarea man would pan over to this 51 year old lawyer and writer known to us as FLOTUS and get stuck!

Who was she wearing? What was she wearing? Where can I get what she was wearing? What color was she wearing? AND SO MUCH MORE..... Well I have all the answers to your questions.

FLOTUS wore an amazing Narciso Rodriguez Banded-Bodice Midi Dress. Narciso fine tuned his craft as a designer under the watchful eyes of Donna Karen and Calvin Klein before launching his own line in 1997. He is known for his style to be the forward edge of fashion while always being wearable. He dresses many different celebrities such as Julia Roberts and Julia Louis-Dryefus, but now FLOTUS has allowed him to grace her amazing body.

This Banded-Bodice Midi Dress was simple, sexy, and very ladylike. I get extremely uncomfortable and turned off when it comes to the word banded mixed with the word dress because I am over these Herve Banded dresses but Narciso did us justine. The color was not yellow, organge, or tangerine which were some of the colors thrown out there but it was Marigold! A fun fact about this color and plant is the name Marigold "Mary Gold" comes from the Virgin Mary; interesting??? Maybe, Maybe Not...  OK...

The description of this amazing dress is a textured wool crepe midi dress, slight funnel neckline (not a short turtle neck), sleeveless with moderate shoulder coverage, fitted banded bodice, slightly flared skirt, straight hem, an exposed zipper in the back (which I love!!!!!), and it was made in Italy. Where can you find this dress? Unfortunately this dress is completely SOLD OUT at Neiman Marcus. To me, this is awesome, it certainly shows the influence FLOTUS and just a person in general can have on someone.

Concluding this message for the third time like a baptist preacher, this dress is absolutely beautiful, this designer is abssolutely talented and someone that I sincerly look up to. FLOTUS hair and makeup was incredibly flawless, and im sure she had a great show one; but what I believe made her stick out was her confidence. The look of confidence will absolutely take you places that a Jimmy Choo shoe can't. Her confidence exudes out of her pores and it shines out of her like the Glory of God. Ladies and Gentleman, lets not just be about labels (although labels are wonderful, WONDERFUL), but lets have confidence in who we are and what he carry within us.

Adding A Pop Of Color

Adding a pop of color to a mute outfit is very simple but you must have the right foundation. A house built on a weak or no foundation desires destruction from the beginning and so does a look you are trying to accomplish. When pulling for others I always find a piece that I can build from whether its a purse, a pair of shoes, an incredible Vintage dress, or even a great pair of statement earings. An incredible colorful statment piece is like having a Crayola crayon box and you're now choosing from all of these colorful crayons to create a beautiful picture. There is nothing worse than seeing someone with all these colors on looking like a Mexican Sombrero, this is completely out of order. A brown dress, blue shoes, silver purse, and a black coat. LOOSE THE MINDS OF GOD's PEOPLE satan. You are a liar and truth "ain't" in you.

Slap your neighbor who looks a mess and say "it's called Cohesiveness". Ask yourself, why would I put these colors together and where am I getting these colors from? Just like you need a foundation when putting on your clothes such as a bra, girdles, and underwear so you can look decent in your clothes, its imperative to have a color foundation. Oh let me describe and explain what cohesive means; well integrated, closely united. Let's look PUT TOGETHER...

While modernizing a look for a client, this idea popped into my mind about adding a pop of color. I'm really a monochromatic individual, where I love all winter white, all black, all brown, or different shades of each but in the same family. So while pulling this look together I already had this incredile 1950s Vintage Knit Blue Dress. This wouldn't be considered a nude color but being that its completely one solid vibrant color, to me it's like having a white sheet of paper and now it's time to create a great look.

If you follow my blog or Instagram (@thee_vintage_guy) than you would know I love a Mary Frances Handbag, if you don't follow me then you wouldn't know and shame on you. I took this amazing colorful Mary Frances handbag and started to create. I pulled colors from and and just let my Holy Ghost (imagination) have it's way.

Before I conclud this blog, just remember, when adding pops of color get a coloful foundation first and then color away. Interested or needing help with your wardrobe or a special outfit for an event, email me at thevintageguy87@gmail.com!

Modernizing Your Vintage Look!

Ok this one is going to be quick and simple. Some people are preparing for Office Holiday Parties, family get together's, NYE, and just church services; so I wanted to offer a way to take your amazing vintage style and modernizing it. It's to much to look exactly like someone from the 50s or 60s but it's all about taking that statement Vintage piece and modernizing it.

Here we have this amazing Novelty 1950s Vintage Skirt. It's a felted wool material skirt which means it's great for this season, it has great body an movement with it (as you dance and prance during a praise break), and it has some stretch in it!!! NOW THAT'S A BLESSING... It has a classic vintage car and light post on it but what really captures my attention on it is simply the black lining that circles the bottom of thee entire skirt. Attention to detail is EVERYTHING! With just the car and light post, to me it would have just been a skirt but that detailing in the bottom speaks volumes to me😱. Also that will help you stand out in a crowd when everyone has to wear similar garments of praise. Simple little stitching, embroidery, and detailing, makes the absolute difference. This will make a $5.00 skirt look like a good $200.00 skirt from Neiman's.

I modernized this skirt to give it this look with a simple white blouse. Tawni Haynes has simply made an empire out of the oversized bow blouse! Kudos to her but being that it's the holiday season I'm going to tell you how to execute a beautiful bow blouse on a budget. Simply  taking a great fitting white blouse, press your way to a material store and find a great heavy wide satin material. All you need is a great long piece for a bow. Put it around your neck and even it out to make sure both ends touch the top of your hips. It might be best to just have a seamstress (or your mother, like I do) sew it on in the back of the collar. Sometimes when the Holy Ghost hits you never know how you will look and end up when it lifts LOL... Or you can just take a safety pin and pin it to the collar, no biggie. Tie it into an amazing bow and you can embellish it in the middle with a great befitting broach.

I also added a great pair of suede knee high boots that are FLATS!!!! See you don't have to wear heels 365 days out of the year, just 364 days! πŸ˜€πŸ˜€πŸ˜€. These boots balance the silhouette of this emote look out. If you did a high heel or flat bootie I think you may end up looking heavy on top or just distorted (I hope that's the right word 😐). I also show it with a great metallic Louboutin of course. This shoe gives a clean line to the entire look and helps the colors in the skirt pop more.

I finished modernizing this look with a great suede feminine motorcycle jacket. In HS I had a great Vanson motorcycle style jacket that just added just volume to whatever I was wearing, it was absolutely the topping on the cake so I figured a play on soft and hard would do the same here. A great soft vibrant color skirt with just a feminine blouse and a hard jacket! You can do it with a black jacket but that would be obvious so I went with gray. I certainly do hope this has helped someone pull an amazing modern vintage (such a play on words) look together!

Inspiration and Imagination

What inspires your imagination to take you to another place.

My imagination is inspired by so many things; whether it's a colorful icy (water ice) from Rita's, or a Tupperware collection in Walmart, or just the simple sound of the wind blowing to then look out your window into your driveway and see an assortment of colorful dried leaves. My surroundings inspire my imagination where I then use it towards my advantage when pulling looks for clients and myself. It's so easy to use God given forces of nature to put an appropriate wardrobe together.

RAIN:
A great vintage London Fog or statement piece Burberry trench coat, with a great pair of Ralph Lauren patent leather green ankle rainboots, dark denim jeans, denim dress shirt, super oversized scarf, and a luxury statement bag with a clear umbrella. THATS EVERYTHING!

SNOW:
A goooooooood Vintage Fox Fur Collar Double Breasted Coat, an amazing vintage pop of color Sheath Dress, an pair of great single sole heels (Louboutins prefably "So Kate"), a pair of wrist leather gloves, and a great bag. HELLO CHURCH!!

SUNSHINE:
A great 1970s Vintage Maxi Dress with Chiffon Sleeves, a good open toe shoe, and a killer handbag. GONE WITH THE WIND FABULOUS!!!

HEAT:
Stay in the house because it's to hot for all that... LOL.

Inspiration and Imagination; two things that will create such an amazing Wardrobe!
