"THE FASHION GUY WITH THE VINTAGE EYE" presents Top Looks Of Resurrection Sunday!

TOP LOOKS OF RESURRECTION SUNDAY!
Eric Johnson Jr.

"To perform professionally worldwide and to soon be employed with a major record label" says the fashionable 24 year old, Berkley College of Music graduate with his MBA in Music Business, Mr. Eric Johnson Jr.

We started the interview with the first question I asked all of my "top 10 looks of Resurrection Sunday" recipients, What does fashion and style mean to you and how do they differentiate? Eric says "fashion is what is out in the world at the current moment. It's an outward look on what the general population of people are doing. Style to me has to do with personality and how someone shows who they are through clothing". In 2011 Eric went from 260 to 190 pounds and this is when his style began to develop. He says "it was then that I really started to notice my interest in style". During our interview I also asked Eric; What inspires his sense of style? He simply said "Just being a young man"! Although he grew up in church and this was a driving force for him concerning fashion, he noticed that church fashion was limited so he received a lot of inspiration from TV and movies. Also being from NYC has helped a lot. A few of Eric's favorite mainstream designers are Burberry, Hugo Boss, and everyone's favorite TOM FORD! Eric mentioned to me a few of his favorite colors are blue, gray, and beige; he uses multi color accessories to make his look POP! Towards the end of our interview I asked Eric, what are 5 necessities he believes makes the perfect look? He said correct sizing, pressed jeans, a fresh haircut, a nice gold watch, and white shirts (which I believe every gentleman should always have). "Don't be afraid to take risks. Everything won't work but at least you'll know. In time, you'll develop you're own style and everything you do will look great because you would've perfected your ideas". This is what Eric says when asked to give to someone who is striving to come into their own fashion sense. If you have ever wanted to accomplish any looks of Mr.Eric Johnson Jr, he gave me a few places he loves to shop which are J Crew, Suit Supply, Top Man, and Express.

 MICHAEL PITTMAN

"I believe fashion is learned, fashion is a trend that a culture picks up on daily. Style is an art that defines a person" says Sir Michael Pittman. This 32 year old Metropolitan College of NY graduate is currently looking to start his own marketing and image consultant company. It all started for him at 14 years of age while working in retail where his passion for styling began to blossom. Sir Pittman attributes his grandfather for his fashionable presence. He stated "my grandfather instilled in me that presentation is key at all times". Sir Pittman also mentioned to me that his grandfather encouraged him to look at good shoes that will compliment a mans wardrobe at all times. During the interview I asked Sir Pittman; what are 5 necessities for the perfect look? He said "shoes, grooming (haircuts for men, hairstyling for women, and manicures for both parties)". He also mentioned accessories and double confidence! I asked Sir Pittman, what advice can you give someone who is looking to come into their own fashion sense? He says "in order for one to come into his or her own they would need to find out what interest them". "The way you feel is the way you will present yourself; but to stay ahead of the times in fashion and stay on top of new trends that catches your eye". Being that Sir Pittman is a dapper and creative gentleman, if you are interested in how he stays current in fashion, his favorite places to shop are Zara, H&M, and thrift stores. His favorite colors are earth tones, blues, and vibrant colors. I always enjoy Sir Pittman's post on Instagram, he encourages me to take fashion risk.

I interviewed Mr.Dickens and asked him, what does style and fashion mean and how do the differentiate to him? Dion stated "fashion is what the current trend is, style is more personal and what you consider to be a good look for you". Dion's interest in fashion began while in the 11th grade in 2001 and notes that his sense of style is a cross between church, vintage, and pieces from the furrier. I asked Dion what are some of your favorite places to shop and he said " on eBay, vintage and thrift shops, and of course his favorite designer Burberry". During our interview I asked Dion, what are 5 necessities for the perfect look? He stated a sense of style, CONFIDENCE, accessories, a good eye, and a willingness to take fashion risk.             Who is this Vaughn College of Aeronautics and Technology graduate? Who is this currently working as a luxury real estate professional, musician, graphic artist, and one of the best dressed young men in NY? Mr. Jeffrey Skinner!!!

At the beginning of our interview I asked Jeffrey, When did your interest for fashion peak? He stated "My interest in fashion began back in middle school. In 2003 my mother and I traveled to Europe for the first time for spring vacation. Jeffrey stated While he was traveling through western Europe for two weeks, it enormously widened his perspective because it showed him how much emphasis was placed on fashion by both the young and old in European countries. From then on he felt like he had to present himself at the level that he had seen overseas. I asked Jeffrey, what inspires his sense of fashion? He  unhesitantly said "wealth"!    He stated "even though I haven't attained all of my career goals as of yet, I want to dress like I'm signing the contract today"! As I asked all of my " Top 10 Looks Of Resurrection Sunday" gentleman I certainly asked Jeffrey, What does fashion and style mean to you and how do the differentiate? He said  "Fashion and style both play an important role in my life". Recently  when he entered into the luxury real estate environment, he noticed a lot of emphasis is placed on "selling a dream." That axiom goes all the way from your haircut, to your necktie, to your fingernails. He says "I always try to look like a million dollars because I recognize that my clients can spend well over a million dollars". Jeffrey says that fashion is a reflection of what's mainstream in the industry. Fashion reflects what's trendy, what's on Fifth Avenue in your favorite store. Style is that same fashion broken down on an individual level and how one interprets those fashion pieces and crafts a personal look. As the interview went on we began to talk about a few of his favorite mainstream designers which are Fendi and Burberry. He also mentioned a few of his favorite places to shop which are TopMan, Century 21, and of course "a good thrift and vintage shop" he says. In depth of the interview I asked, what are 5 necessities to you for the perfect look? Jeffrey says, FIT, SHOES, ACCESSORIES, HAIR, and CONFIDENCE. No matter what you're wearing, own it. At the end of our interview I asked Mr.Skinner, what advice can you give someone who is trying to come into their own fashion sense? His final statement was "GET THE ESSENTIALS FIRST! Don't go spending hundreds of dollars on a red suit and leopard shoes and you don't own a simple black suit and black wingtips. Get the essentials first, then add more creative pieces to your wardrobe. You'll thank yourself later". Who would have thought this Birmingham, Alabama native would be one of the greatest fashion forward minds of this generation, in my perspective.

The Fashion Guy With The Vintage Eye! Fashion from my perspective...

The Fashion Guy With The Vintage Eye

In west Philidephia born and raised on the playground is where is spent most of my days (fresh prince of Bel Air) Lol. Just a little humor to start us off on this journey of FASHION FROM MY PERSPECTIVE. I wanted to merge 3 of my loves, Church (God), Fashion, and Writing. You may ask, well what qualifies him to write such material on these 3 topics? I am super excited that you asked that question. 1) I love The Lord and his people with all of my heart; I am a born again believer, saved, sanctified, and filled with the Holy Ghost, I've been down in Jesus name (Apostolic). Plus I was born in the borough of churches BROOKLYN! 2) Being that I was born in the fashion capital of the universe NEW YORK I feel that affords be talk all day long about fashion. New York is a place where fashion is conceived, birthed, and has no limits. Through my 26 years of life I have been able to experiment on many avenues of fashion. I have been afforded to shop in the best of places and I love the experience in thrift and vintage shops when you find something that had to be tailor made for you. SN (I love the 40s, 50s,60s, and 70s era of clothing). 3) Writing; I've always loved words, I love the journey and taking people to another place with my words. I love the sound of intellectualism, capturing the attention of people through conversation and stories.

Fashion is a major part of the church community and I wanted to introduce others to the amazing regalia I get to experience every time I enter into the house of God through my blogging. This blog will kick off with a recap of Resurrection Sunday with the "top 10 looks", local designers of the month, Fashionable Pastors (Fashionmonger), giveaways, different places to shop for amazing vintage and vintage inspired attire. My favorite part of this Blog will be the "Vintage Vault"; being that I am a freelance stylist spealizing in certain era attire. I will definitely be featuring some of my clients in the work of art I put them in. I will also be interviewing and spotlighting different stylist, makeup artist, hair masters, and all occupations that has to do with fashion, style, and the church. Come take this journey with me, you never know I may think you are fashionable and could feature you on my blog.
